American wins Championship of Oxford City Club

Word comes from England that Franklin F. Russell of Brooklyn, a Rhodes scholar at Oxford University and captain of the varsity chess team there, has captured the Championship of the Oxford City Chess Club. Mr. Russell is a former Champion of New York University and the son of Chief Justice Isaac F. Russell of the Court of Special Sessions. His many friends in the New York area will have the opportunity to felicitate him on his success before long, as he is scheduled to return to the United States within the month. We wish him safe and pleasant travels.

The reader will find appended two games won by Mr. Russell in the recent Championship tourney.
